High, recognition in track and field on the state, national and
international level as a sprinter/jumper.
1985: He wins 100-meter dash (meet record), 200-meter dash, long
jump and triple jump as Penn Wood wins PIAA Class AAA Championship
Meet team title.
1989: Wins NCAA indoor long jump championship competing for the
University of Houston and is U.S. Nationals 100-meter dash champion.
1990: Breaks world record in 100-meter dash (9.88 seconds) in meet
at Randall's Island, N.Y. to become the "World's Fastest Human."
1992: Helps Santa Monica Track Club team, which includes Carl Lewis,
break world record in 4 x 100-meter relay at Penn Relays. At the
Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, runs second leg as American
4 x 100 relay team lowers world record in winning gold medal.
1993: Anchors United States 4 x 100-meter team to world-record tying
time at World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.
1994: Lowers world record in 100-meter dash to 9.85 seconds.
1996: Qualifies for American Olympic team but fails to compete in
Summer Games in Atlanta because of injury.
1998: Named head track and field coach at the University of Houston.
1999: Del. Cty's Athlete of the Millennium by the DELCO Daily Times.
