One of the greatest rowers in Delco
history is Upper Darby's Mike Teti. Mike was an alternate for the
eight man crew at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, and unfortunately,
didn't get the opportunity to compete. However, at the 1988 Olympics
in Seoul, South Korea, he competed in the eights and brought home
a bronze medal. It all started for Mike at Monsignor Bonner with
coach and former Olympian George Mattson. As Mike recalls, "
George Mattson was my hero, and he still is." Mike competed
in two more Olympics, Barcelona(1992) and Atlanta(1996). However,
at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, he became the U.S. Olympic
Rowing Coach, the first Olympic competitor and coach in Delco history.
Presently, Mike coaches the crew team at Princeton University.
