Bill was an All-Delco tight end at
Marple Newtown High in 1979. He then accepted a scholarship to the
University of Pittsburgh, where he played in 36 consecutive games,
earning the starting berth at right defensive tackle as a sophomore.
Bill later earned All-America honors and finished his college career
with 203 tackles and 22 sacks. He also played in four bowl games:
Gator Bowl (1980), Sugar Bowl (1981), Cotton Bowl (1982), and Fiesta
Bowl (1983). In 1984, Bill became a first round draft pick of the
Kansas City Chiefs. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year by
the Associated Press and was a two-time All-Pro. After 10 years,
he retired from the Chiefs and is a T.V. commentator for the N.F.L.
Bill, who at one time was married to Dan Marino's sister, was one
of 50 former N.F.L. players nominated to the Pro Football Hall of
Fame in 2001.
